UNITED STATES OIL RESOURCES
Thanks to Mike's America for the above very revealing map of the United States. Every green dot represents oil resources that are available for use in this country were it not for the environmentalist whacos and liberal Democrats who have prevented this country from tapping into our own oil resources and kept us dependent on foreign oil. In case you have trouble reading the combined total at the bottom of the map it totals 440 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL. More than enough to end our dependency and give us the same oil prices as Saudi Arabia about 65 cents per gallon and Venezuela about 35 cents per gallon. Both countries are oil independent because they have used their own available resources. When it comes to oil WE are the third world country because of our dependency !

I think this needs to be passed around alot more. I don't think the average American has any idea what our resources are. They have been hearing the Enviro Spin for so long they probably would be taken by complete surprise.
I don't see the off shore allocations on the map. Any luck in getting one that includes this data as well?
Mike is either an idiot or has some information that the U.S. government does not have. There are about 21 billion barrels in proven domestic reserves and another 5 billion in untapped reservoirs. I don't know where he pulled out the 440 billion barrels number, but I am curious.

Ken mistyped the amount and put it at 440 billion barrels. I apologize for trusting Ken's number in his post. CIR Deputy why don't you jump on Ken's back?
The USGS and the Dept. of Energy differ by about 15 billion barrels, but either way it doesn't matter. If we assume that the U.S. has 45 billion barrels (which is certainly debatable given that the U.S. Department of Energy believes it is much lower), the next question is how long that will last? We consume 20 million barrels of oil each day. If you do the math 45 billion barrels is enough for just over 6 years. Obviously not a solution to our "addiction to oil."
How does 45 billion barrels compare? Venezuela has 50-80 billion barrels, Russia has 60 billion, Iran has 130 billion barrels, Iraq has 115 billion, Saudi Arabia has 265 billion. Given how much we consume, it is clear that 45 billion is nothing!
I agree to some extent that some environmental organizations have gone completely crazy over their viewpoints in terms of environmental protection and policy, but I do think that if you want to work in fragile ecosystems with heavy industrial machinery, just going for the money and the economy, isn't only selfish, it's irresponsible: I would rather want to have a green planet to live on in a 100 years time than all the oil in the world, sitting on a dead mother Earth. There are alternatives that have the potential to solve all our fossil fuel problems, yes, it will take time. But if we start now, we WILL HAVE an alternative if indeed our oilfields dry up at the end of this century. People do crazy things when they need oil, since it's so important to our way of life. If there's no more oil left our children will have to face war and economic decline, do we wan't that? I certainly do not!
