FRED THOMPSON TO ANNOUNCE JULY 4TH

NEW POSTS FOLLOW BELOW

Sources within the camp of former Tennessee Senator and possible Presidential candidate Fred Thompson have revealed that the Senator will be starting his, "exploratory, " committee next week and make his official announcement for the Republican Candidacy for President during the 4th of July Holiday.

The purpose for the exploratory committee is to allow a candidate to begin fund raising for a campaign. While it is not an official announcement, it does give all indications of a candidates true desire to run for President and the official announcement usually follows. For Thompson that official announcement will follow relatively quickly.

Thompson brings to the GOP class of candidates true conservatism in the Reagan mold with strong stances on the war and a strong national defense, increased border security, tough stands against illegal immigration, limited government, less taxation and conservative views on today's pressing social issues.

Thompson will bring to the GOP the conservative ideas and views that top tier candidates are lacking with the electability and name recognition that the conservatives in the second tier who have announced do not have.

To the mantra that has become so well known, "Run Fred, Run " I add this, "Fred IS Running!"

So the rightwingnuts who hate Hollyweird are supporting the most Hollyweird candidate of all. BTW - his wife is around Monica's age.

mudkitty, we don't hate Hollywood, just Hollywood liberals. :) Oh, and who cares about the age of his wife? Isn't that a personal choice issue?

Once again, you show the intolerance of the left.

I don't get all of the excitement. Seems like a dull candidate, but his positions on issues are still relatively unknown.

The guy divorced his first wife and married a trophy wife. So what - it is no big deal to me. At least he was actually divorced when he met his trophy wife - unlike guys like Newt and Rudy who were carrying on affairs while married. I'll give Fred some credit for that.

It will be interesting to see what his real position is on Iraq. Once he formally enters the race he will have to make his policies known.

Rob, actually his position on issues is well documented throughout the web.

He has also been doing quite a lot of writing at Town Hall .com

You know, according to the bible, divorce is every bit as much a sin as homosexual acts. Same with adultery and extra-marital sex.

But yeah, can you see this guy Thompson being the candidate of the religious right?

Catfish,

Who said we hate Hollyweird?

There are alot of great stars in Hollywood, Gary Sinese, Tom Sellek, Danny Bonaduce, Bo Derek, Ron Silver, Steven Baldwin, etc...

It's just the freakshow's that turn us off.

Rob,

For once we agree on something, he does seem to be a little dull, but when he jumps in it is going to be exciting.

He isnt as dull as he seems I bet.

This Political season may just be some fun this time round.

We'll see how he holds up once he is in the official fishbowl.

Wes Clark was all the rage when he was thinking about running. Once he jumped in and had to campaign every day things did not go well.

Of course Fred was a professional politician, so he should be better prepared.

Whos says they hate Hollywierd? Wjy Jenn...you know the famous Jenn who never banns anyone? She says she hates Hollywweird. She say's it constantly. If she could, she would copywrite the term "Hollyweird." And all the rest of you, especially DG & Dave fall in line.

As for Thompson, if you all think Rudy McRomney is unsuitable...wait till it's open season on Thompson, and his actual bio comes out. I don't think Mr. James Dobson is going to be too thrilled...

Fred should put a fresh new face on this, Ken. The other candidates are becoming a bit stale. Just think how stale Hitlery and Obama will seem to Dems by 2008. Especially Hitlery. It seems she's been around longer than Grandma Moses.

But leave it to rightwingers, when in doubt, go for the famous guy.

You guys would vote for Paris Hilton if she said she was a republican.

Marie, drink what? Do you? Drink, that is? And do you think that's a proper way to deal with political issues? By slander? When you don't have a decent argument or rational, resort to insult, Marie. Typical.

Gayle, comparing Hillary to Hitler is not funny in the least. If you differ on ideas, then battle in the arena of ideas. But, Hillary is not responsible for the deaths of millions of Jews. If you are joking, please recognize the horribly inappropriate premise of your joke.

Gayle and Henry:

Saying that others use inappropriate, offensive language is not an excuse for using offensive.

My kids certainly have learned that that excuse won't play with me or my wife. I expect more from adults.

If you are confident in your positions, then in the battle of ideas I would encourage you to avoid the inflammatory, offensive, and horribly inappropriate name calling.

It is a free country and if you want to be rude and offensive that is up to you, but please spare us the childish excuses. Take some responsiblity and just accept that you want to be rude.

You know Ken... I guess I can't complain about the freak show you have commenting here. I have a follower of David Duke who is likely a member of the American Nazi Party.

But even he makes more sense than Mudslinger.

P.S. We should do some cooperative blogging for Fred in SC.

Ken, let me make a suggestion. You run a great blog site, are adult in your discussions, and clearly are an open advocate for free speech.

Mike is pretty much just the opposite. If you want to blog for Fred, do so on your own. Mike's childish name calling won't help Fred, nor will it help you be taken seriously.

I've read up a little on Fred's positions, plus how he has voted on various issues, and I think he'll make a pretty good candidate, though he is a little less Conservative than I would like.

I also think many Republicans wishfully think that Thompson will be another Reagan chiefly because he is an actor. I won't allow myself to jump to that conclusion.

Still, a Thompson/Hunter ticket has a nice ring to it.

I think it has a better chance of winning than the ticket I would prefer, namely a Hunter/Thompson ticket.

Sadly, I am beginning to think the Republican party is too liberal to elect either. Likely they will go with Guiliani or Rommney, which is, I think, little better than Bush, who has severely disappointed me with his immigratrion proposal.

Too liberal? The GOP is rushing towards the center, because you on the right are so far right right can't see the center. It's the only thing that can save the GOP. But it won't be enough.

Thompson/Hunter will scare the pants off people. Especially Hunter, who is ripe for his maccaca moment.

Don't you get it rightwingers. The GOP pays lip service to you, and then does what ever Big Business wants. The GOP has been, and always will be, the party of Big Business. And nowadays, it aint like your Father's old company. These aren't American Companies/Corporations, or even PanAmerican Corporations...these are international/mulit-national/global
corporations who sponsor the GOP, and to whom they are beholden. Not you guys here. There is no loyalty to our Nation as far as the GOP is concerned.

"Saying that others use inappropriate, offensive language is not an excuse for using offensive."

Rob, I never said it was an excuse, and I never condoned it. I just asked if you remind "progressives" of the same thing.

"If you are confident in your positions, then in the battle of ideas I would encourage you to avoid the inflammatory, offensive, and horribly inappropriate name calling."

Do you encourage these people to avoid the inflammatory, offensive, and horribly inappropriate name calling?

3:25 PM, June 05, 2007
Blogger Rob said...

Yep, sure do. I don't believe Hitler references make much sense. They are immediately inflammatory and destroy any opportunity to engage in meaningful debate. It doesn't matter if they come from liberals or conservatives.

To me there is nothing funny or appropriate about associating politicians with Hitler. It diminishes the horrible nature of Hitler's policies which resulted in the deaths of millions of innocent victims.

I come to this site to engage in serious discourse. Ken runs a great site and you can see that I have been a regular for a couple of years. From time-to-time, I'll get called names by rightwingers (Mike, is one regular who cannot seem to help himself), but I don't devolve into pointless name-calling.

10:02 AM, June 06, 2007
Blogger Rob said...

Henry, I should be clear about one thing. I don't go out looking to rid the world of all inappropriate references to Hitler. However, if someone in my presence makes a joke or uses the reference around me, I do comment on it.
