LAW OF THE SEA TREATY WILL GO TO FULL SENATE

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 17 - 4 in favor of sending The United Nations Law of the Sea Treaty to the Senate floor for ratification. At this writing the roll call was not available but three Senators who have been on the fore front against LOST during Committee hearings were Senator Jim DeMint, (R SC), Senator Norm Coleman, (R, MINN), and Senator David Vitter, (R LA).

The date for debate and vote before the full Senate has not been set yet. Senator Mitch McConnel Senate Minority Leader has stated his opposition to the treaty as have a large number of Republican Senators. If LOST is to be defeated it will take a strong effort by the minority GOP to do so in opposition of Democrat leadership and President Bush who is urging ratification of the treaty.

Currently the 2/3 majority required by the Constitution to ratify any treaty is in doubt because of GOP opposition. That opposition according to the office of Senator DeMint is gaining. It is believed that GOP opposition could very well be the final death blow to the treaty so it is imperative for each of us continue to contact Senators urging them to vote NO in giving The United Nations jurisdiction over US sovereignty and the earths oceans through the Law of the Sea Treaty.

Well if Inhofe and Coburn havent heard enough from me yet, I guess they are about to get a few calls once again :-)

I know for sure those 2 are going to vote against it.

But I have enough time today to pound the point home lol

Ok Ken,

You will be happy to know I called Coburn, Inhofe, and the President lol

Inhofe and Coburn are deffinately voting NO!

And I wanted to pass along a message to the President so I said : If the Law of the Sea Treaty passes (Which it isnt going to) I want him to VETO it lol.

I have now done all I can do on this issue haha.

I was serious though and I did tell them all how I felt. (No not anything to get the Secret Service to come to my door lol) and they all understood.

And Coburn and Inhofe's office was fast at saying "They both intend to vote NO"!

Naturally they just pass along messages to the President.

I just told them I want nothing to do with the United Nations having anything to do with owning, operating, controling, patroling, absolutely nothing to do with our waters.

This thing is dead in the water "Pun Intended"

Way to go Marie. If, and it is a big if because right now the votes are not there for 2/3 in the Senate, but if this thing passes it will be signed by Bush.

He urged its passage after the Russians made claim to sea bed rights off of Alaska in the Spring. Before that he was dead set against it. Why he thinks a UN entity will gelp the US against Russia is beyond me but he did a 360.

All treaties must have Presidential approval before the Senate can consider them. So this is one instance where Bush is not a help but a massive hinderance!

Perhaps it won't pass the Senate for the simple reason Bush likes it, Ken. They've been against everything else he's for. I can't for the life of me understand why Bush is doing this, just as I can't understand why he hasn't done more regarding our borders!

I would like to be able to say if I knew he would do this I wouldn't have voted for him, but it's not true. Kerry would have been disastrous!

I wonder if the War and all the attacks and all the crap over the last 7 years has had an affect on President Bush.

You know when he first took office his hair was like Mousey Brown and now it's ALL gray?

I think this Presidency was more than one man should have to endure and I really feel sorry for the next President whoever it turns out to be unless it's a Liberal (Payback's a Bitch) because if they go after them the way they went after Bush, they are going to want to say "Screw This"! They wont be able to take this whole thing like Bush has.

Bush has handled everything they have thrown at him too. But then again there is only one Bush.

The thing I think Bush will be remembered for is deffinately 9-11, and saying "Screw This" and had enough balls to go after the Terrorists instead of sitting back and taking it again and again.

He had enough. And he knew most of us had had enough too. And he was a leader and he lead this Country through our darkest hours. And now that things are going good in Iraq, history will show he may have been stubbron as a mule, but Cowboy Diplomacy WORKS!

But it may have made him a little offbeat in some of his decisions. I noticed he lookes weathered and haggard.

I dont know anymore some of what he's thinking.

I think he's getting tired.
