JOHN MCCAIN COMMANDER IN CHIEF, HILLARY AND OBAMA FIGHTING IN THE PLAYGROUND

With the Republican nomination all but official John McCain took advantage of the battle that is taking place between Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama for the Democrat nomination and made an anticipated but until his arrival secret visit to Iraq to see first hand the success of the surge.

While the Dems are duking it out like two children on a playground, John McCain took on the look of Commander in Chief as he visited with the troops, Commanders and Iraqi Government officials. As a member of the Armed Services Committee he and Senators Lindsay Graham, (R SC) and Joe Lieberman , ( I Conn), who are also members of the Committee payed the visit as a fact finding mission for the Committee. Of course in this Presidential year the trip also cannot help but benefit McCain's run for the White House.

McCain met with General Patraeus as well as Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh. McCain was asked at one point by reporters about militants in Iraq attempting to influence Novembers election. He stated that it is a worry because, " we know they pay attention, because of the intercepts we have of their communications." Just before the 2004 Presidential Election violence increased in Iraq as an attempt by Al Qaeda to influence the election in favor of John Kerry, which of course did not succeed.

From Iraq McCain and company will proceed to Israel, France and Great Britain meeting with leaders in each country. This visit by McCain will be extremely advantageous for the GOP nominee especially with the implosion that is taking place with Democrats and the fight between the two candidates as well as revelations that continue to arise especially about Obama.

Latest polling has had a dramatic shift toward McCain with the largest change coming in a head to head match up between McCain and Obama. Rasmussen has had a ten point shift from Obama leading by four to McCain leading by six which now takes it our of the margin of error.

The latest Zogby Poll is even more dramatic. Against Clinton, McCain leads 45 - 39 which also takes it out of the margin of error. McCain had previously lead by only two and three points. Against Obama McCain leads 44 - 39 which to is a shift of nearly 11 points from previous polls by Zogby. Zogby takes into account the Ralph Nadar factor which is not included in other polling.

Nadar has once again announced he is running on the Green Party ticket. In 2000 he garnered about 3% of the national vote, a percentage that many believe took enough from Al Gore to give Bush the victory. In the Zogby polling Nadar is showing at 6% in a McCain - Clinton match up and at 5% in a McCain - Obama match up. So the perennial Presidential candidate is once again having his effect on the Democrat candidates.

The Nadar factor combined with the continual fiasco that is taking place between the Democrats, the news that Dem donors are beginning to rebel against the party and the candidates and the growing flak about Obama , his preacher and the racist under tones that are attributed to , "preacher, " Wright and Obama's wife have had large impact on voters which has benefited John McCain.

This along with McCain's calm campaign and his ability now that he has the nomination sown up freeing him to make trips to Iraq, the Middle East and Europe in performing his Senatorial duties has not only taken McCain to the lead for 2008 but many analysts concede that the White House is now well within his grasp as the Democrat implosion shows no sign of ending and in fact continues to escalate into the Convention and beyond.

Ken, security has worsened in the last 6 weeks in Iraq.

But let me give you two images to consider about whether Iraq is a good investment of American blood and treasure. Ahmadinejihad just recently visited Iraq and was greeted as a welcome Head of State. He drove from the airport to Baghdad in the open during the middle of the day. His visit was announced and people lined the streets to cheer for him. He walked in the open, through Baghdad markets, without a heavy security detail.

McCain and Cheney have to fly in, in secret, with heavy security and won't venture outside of the Green Zone. Bush had to fly in at night with the lights off of the plane.

I think the images speak for themselves. In the end, as I have been saying for years on this blog, the best we are going to be left with is a Shia-dominated theocratic state that is pro-Iran.

Ken,

The Nader factor is going to boil down to the same thing you told me about "Diarreah" LOL!

And there was nothing of the "playground" in the silly "I'm more conservative than you" sqabbling of just a few weeks past?

Don't get too excited about what's going down this week... as they say, a week's a long time in politics. Who's to say that in a few month's time deals won't have been done and a Clinton/Obama ticket isn't out-polling a McCain/whoever ticket?

PS You're too sensible rob. What are you dong on this blog anyway?

Let's see, why would Bush and Chaney not be welcomed in Iraq......maybe because there are still terrorists??

And I think the fact that Ahmadinejihad had no problem speaks volumes.....he's no better than the rest of them!!
